Welcome

Dear Visitor,

My name is Dobos Erzsébet. I am the chairman of the Hungarian Investment and Trade Agency (HITA). Let me share with You a few facts about our organization.

The Hungarian Investment and Trade Agency (HITA) was established by the Government to promote the international business activities of Hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises and to encourage foreign businesses to invest in Hungary. The Agency is a central organisation subordinated directly to the Prime Minister. The activities of the Agency are controlled by the Prime Minister, as prescribed by law, via the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations at the Prime Minister's Office.

HITA started operating on 1 January 2011. Currently we have 150 employees to assist foreign investors with the preparations of their investment projects in Hungary and to support export activities of Hungarian SMEs.

The priorities of the Hungarian Investment and Trade Agency are in line with Széchenyi Plan and the country’s foreign economic strategy: keep and strengthen positions in traditional export markets (e.g. Germany and neighboring countries), and enter new, dynamically growing, emerging markets (e.g. Balkans, Eastern Europe, Far East).

Apart from its headquarters in Budapest, HITA has six regional subsidiaries. As part of its regional network, HITA also has one designated expert in each county as a point of contact for potential investors, for SMEs planning to export, and for local municipalities, industrial parks and clusters that wish to attract foreign investors.

HITA is in charge of leading and overseeing the activities of specialized foreign economy diplomats, working at 63 representative offices across 49 countries to strengthen foreign trade relations of Hungary.

HITA directs the Hungarian consortium of Enterprise Europe Network, an enterprise development network set up by DG for Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission. The purpose of the network is to provide business development support for small and medium sized enterprises in the European Union.

HITA is led and supervised by the chairman, who is supported in her work by a vice-chairman.

The Hungarian Investment and Trade Agency (HITA) is the first to set up a supplier database in Hungary. Hungarian companies seeking to supply goods to the automotive and electronic industry and suppliers that wish to broaden their customer base are invited to register. The database is a platform combining the demand of enterprises and the spare capacities of Hungarian companies that occupy a lower tier in the supplier pyramid, thus functioning as a direct, virtual marketplace operated by HITA.
